Effects of HIV/AIDS on families and households in Sub-Saharan Africa

This study combines information from censuses and cross-sectional surveys with macro-simulations of the HIV/AIDS epidemic to quantify the impact of HIV disease burden and AIDS mortality, on household structure in South Africa, especially the living arrangements of the elderly. This study has been funded by a Supplement to the Center for Demography of Health and Aging P30 (AG-17266), 2000-2004.
