Ageing in the context of HIV/AIDS in urban and peri-urban Botswana.
This research will advance academic understanding of the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on aging in the Global South, an issue which is currently under-researched and poorly understood. Focusing on older people in Botswana, this research will produce critical empirical evidence on two inter-related aspects of aging and HIV/AIDS. These are, first, the sexual beliefs, practices and the constructions of sexualities by older men and women and second, the economic and social resources available to older people to cope with the impact of HIV/AIDS.
