Pilot Project of Experiment on propaganda and social care on AIDS among the aged people in China
The project plans to choose two villages with high AIDS prevalence in a county in a province to carry out a series of intervention activities, including: (1) Improving the ageing awareness of local leaders in governments in preventing and curing work on AIDS. (2) Improving the related staff's knowledge of AIDS and awareness of helping and caring for older persons affected by AIDS. (3)Popularizing knowledge on AIDS among older people, especially in older HIV infectors and older carers for persons infected by HIV/AIDS, improving the consciousness of local cadres about ageing people, in their AIDS prevention work. (4) Improving the living conditions of people aged 50 that are affected by AIDS and their families, by providing economic, social and psychological support to them under the state's policy of "four frees and one caring". (5) Exploring the models and guides of propaganda and social caring activies for those aged HIV infectors and aged family members of persons living with HIV/AIDS. (6) Summarizing the experience of the project and to submitting action suggestions to related departments, such as aging and health sectors, on conducting such activities nationwide.
